Cork Ladies Inching Towards Another Title Corks Inch Rovers take on Dublins Naomh Mearnóg/St Sylvesters in the Vhi Healthcare All Ireland Intermediate Club Championship at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny this Sunday. Inch Rovers will look to their two 2006 All Stars Angela Walsh and Mary OConnor to give them the edge and they will also be able to call on Ciara Walsh who won a Senior All Ireland medal with Cork in early October. Inch destroyed Cooraclare in the Munster Intermediate final and then had a comfortable ten point win over Parnells of London in the semi-finals of the All Ireland Club championships. Syls/Mearnóg had an impressive win over Fermanagh and Ulster Champs Lisnaskea to book their place in the final. The northsiders doggedly defended a first half lead, playing into a strong wind with two players in the bin in the second half and emerged with a ten point win. They will be able to count on the services of Dublins sole 2006 All Star nominee Sinead Aherne, who notched up 1-02 against the Ernesiders. But Inch will also have to pay close attention to Karen Kennedy, Deirdre McGill and Katie Slattery who contributed a combined 2-10 to the scoreboard against Lisnaskea. In the replay of the Vhi Healthcare All Ireland Junior Club Championship final Emyvale of Monaghan will hope that they can finish off the job this time round against the resilient Kildare outfit Eadestown at Pearse Park in Longford. Ciara McAnespie, Ulsters Young Player of the Year, hit the net twice for the Farney women last week and she will be a major threat again this week to Eadestowns chances of snatching glory.
