Cork stroll into Munster U-16 Final

CORK 5-16 WATERFORD 1-3

Cork strolled into the U16 Munster final on Saturday,
thanks to a brace of goals from Rhona Buckley.
The Naomh Fionnbarra star notched a total of 3-1
and the Waterford defence could do nothing to
stop the rampant full forward. In perfect conditions
in Kileagh, captain Vicki Power led by example
at full back and called upon Tracy Mullane and
Rosin O’ Sullivan on the wings to hound the incoming
Waterford forwards – which they did to great effect.
However the battle was won in midfield where Linda
Barrett and Ciara O’ Sullivan excelled, supplying
supreme ball to the balanced forward line.

Cork senior star Amanda Murphy picked off 0-4
tidy points while Noelle Corkery and Ann O’Donovan
made plenty of assists to their colleagues while
also contributing to the scoreboard. At the half
the Rebels’ led 4-9 1-3 but Gabriel Rangers Deirdre
Cotter upped the tempo and it was too much for
the Deise girls who could only manage to score
0-3 in the second. Going on Saturdays performance,
Cork will certainly be hard to knock from the
top.

on Tuesday 19 April in Carrigtwohill GAA Club
at 8pm. Development Officer Pat Quill will present
