Development Squad Induction Evening The annual Development Squad Induction Evening took place last Wednesday in Croke Park. The Development Squad process is now in year 3 of the three year plan with under 13 and under 15 structures in place in the first two years. 2011 will see the introduction of under 17 squads and for the first time all thirty two counties will be taking part at various grades. It is expected to have all thirty-two counties participating at under 13 level. Development Squads have now become a very important part in the structure of counties throughout the country and are not seen as a county team but used to prepare players for the progression to county football and also to assist mentors to identify players for their squads for the following years. The under 13 and under 15 squads have been very successful and the feedback has been extremely positive. It is hoped that our under 17 structures will have the same effect throughout the country. There was a guest speaker for the Induction evening with Martin Kennedy from the National Athletic Development Academy giving a talk on ‘Long Term Player Development’. This was extremely informative and provided an insight for all attendees on planning for the future of all players. All counties received their Development packs on the night and are now looking forward to successful squads for 2011. Share this Article 0 0
