DLGFA Weeky notes DLGFA Weekly Notes W/E 6th December 09 * The Executive Committee has postponed the December County Board meeting which will now take place in Parnell Park at 7.30pm on Tues 15th December * The Leinster 2010 Fixtures and arrangements have been circulated to Club Delegates. Each Club delegate should ensure that these are brought to the notice of relevant Club personnel * Its Club awards time. Well done to Na Fianna on a successful evening in Mobhi Rd, to Kilmacud Crokes who had a fresh U14 win to celebrate and thanks to Dublin Captain Denise Masterson who travelled out to Dalkey for the Juvenile Awards in Cuala on Sunday. * The Dublin U12 Blitz squad had an enjoyable outing on Saturday to the Croke Park Museum and were joined by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Emer Costello. Well done to the organisers for a great day out to wrap up the year. * The Dub All Stars arrangements are well in hand and a Press Launch will take place next Friday. More about this joint Football & Camogie venture later. * An impressive line-up of some of the finest athletes in Gaelic Games was assembled for Saturday’s GAA Handball Showdown, and the stars, from Football, Hurling, Camogie, Rounders, Ladies Football and, of course, Handball, were ready for action. The Showdown involves pairing high-ranking handball players, such as Cork’s Tony Healy, Kilkenny’s Michael ‘Ducksy’ Walsh and Dublin’s Eoin Kennedy, with a top GAA Star from their county in a knock-out tournament to become the ‘Ultimate GAA Handball Showdown’ winners.A total of 20 counties will be represented at the Showdown, with proceedings hosted by Hector Ó hEochagáin. With the likes of 2009 Hurler of the Year, Tommy Walsh, All-Ireland winning Kerry captain, Darran O’Sullivan and Dublin Ladies Goalkeeper, Cliodhna O’Connor in action, along with a host of other GAA stars, this unique charity event promised to be something special. The Make-A-Wish Foundation, who aim to make the wishes of children living with life-threatening illnesses come true, will be the beneficiaries of the GAA Handball Showdown. * Another FUNdamemtals course has been successfully completed in the County. Well done to all who participated and to St Anne’s for providing the venue. The FUNdamentals Course is a fun, dynamic and informative programme designed by coaches for coaches. The first course in the programme is a foundation level course designed as an introduction to good coaching. Coaches will gain some insights into the theoretical underpinnings of successful coaching as well as having the opportunity to coach and learn in a safe environment. All course tutors have completed the NCTC Tutor Education Programme.
