Congratulations to Na Fianna, St. Brigid’s and St. Margaret’s on winning the Dublin Senior, Intermediate and Junior A Championships respectively, during the past week. Commiserations to the gallant losers, Naomh Mearnóg in the senior, Garda in the Intermediate and Thomas Davis in the Junior A. The winners will now go on to represent Dublin in the Leinster Club Championships and we wish them all the best of luck. See the website for match reports and photos.
Congratulations also goes to Kate Dwyer, St. Margaret’s, Colleen Barrett, St. Brigid’s and Orla Egan, Na Fianna on being selected as Player of the Match in their respective finals. Congratulations too goes to Clontarf on a very comfortable win over Lucan Sarsfields in the Intermediate Shield final and to Sarah McCaffrey who was chosen as Player of the Match.

A special word of thanks to all who were involved in the organising of the finals, the referees, lineswomen and umpires. Thank you to Parnell Park and Innisfails for making their facilities available to the DLGFA. To Genprint for their sponsorship. Thanks also to the members of the Executive for their time and effort to make sure that everything ran smoothly on both evenings. To all involved in the production of the programmes for both occasions but especially the one for the Senior and Intermediate finals. It was of a very high standard and made for an enjoyable read. To the supporters of the clubs involved in the finals and others who came along to make it a worthwhile occasion. To Declan Drake for his support for Dublin Ladies Football and his promotion of the forthcoming TG4 All-Ireland final between Dublin and Cork. To the family of the late Micheal Murphy who
attended and presented the Memorial Cup to Na Fianna captain, Nadine Doherty.

Congratulations to Suzanne Hughes, Ballyboden St. Enda’s on winning the Ladies section of the MBNA Kick Fada competition at Bray Emmets grounds. Her longest kick was measured at 48m. She had previously won the competition in 2001. Well done to Emma Dunne, Naomh Mearnóg and Dublin who finished third.

The Junior 4 League final between St. Maur’s and St. Margaret’s takes place this evening at 6.30pm in Rush. It promises to be a thriller.
Come along and support.

Preparations are well under way for the TG4 All-Ireland final between Dublin and Cork in Croke Park on Sunday September 27th. We look to a large turn-out of Dublin supporters for the occasion. If clubs haven’t already done so they can still purchase group tickets from the Ladies Football office in Croke Park – 018658641. There will be no football competitions on that Sunday to allow clubs to bring along supporters to the final. Further details at the Board meeting The Dublin Ladies Football Board meets this Tuesday evening in Parnell Park at 7.30pm. A full attendance is requested.

Well done to the girls from Naomh Mearnóg & St Sylvesters on their “Run to Africa” fundraiser on Sunday in Malahide Castle. The next run will be on the 27th of September in Lucan see website for details www.runtoafrica.org
