Donegal overcame Cavan for the second time in seven having won the Ulster Intermediate title the previous week in Clones.Yesterday in Tirconaill Park in Donegal Town the homeside were in the lead from start to finish with Yvonne Mc Monagle from Glenfin the player of the match with a parsonal tally of 2–6.The Glefin girl got Donegal off to a good start with a point from a free and a class goal,before catriona Smith got a point for the visitors,followed by Aisling Doonan.Mc Monagle got two more points from play and Geraldine added another.Cavan got four points from frees due to petty fouling by the Donegal defence, per Roisin O’Keefe,Bronagh Sheridan, and two from Aisling Doonan.Donegal got four more points before half time courtesy Niamh Hegarty, Geraldine Mc Laughlin, Yvonne Mc Monagle and Eilish Ward.Cavan replied with two from Aisling Doonan, and Roisin O’Keefe.The score at half time was DONEGAL 1–8 CAVAN 0–8. Donegal went further ahead at the start of the second half with points from Aoife Mc Donnell,Niamh Hegarty,and Geraldine Mc Laughlin.Yvonne scored another goal before Cavan got back in the game with points from Brid Boylan and Aisling a point from a free. Niamh Hegarty scored another point for the homeside.Cavan opened the Donegal defence with fluid fast interplay to score a great goal against the run of play by Bronagh Sheridan.Donegal scored four more points per Yvonne , Niamh Hegarty,Roisin Friel and another from Yvonne.
