Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Golf Classic 2008 On Thursday 15th May 2008 in glorious sunshine, the Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Golf Classic took place in Portmarnock Hotel and Links. This was the fist Golf Classic since 2003 and the executive committee hope to make this an annual event. Dave Mc Cabe of Round Towers Clondalkin presented the Association with a new cup for the Annual Golf Classic going forward. Not only was the day blessed with Sun, but also with stars from Gaelic Football and the small screen. Tommy Carr, Jack Sheedy , Bernard Flynn(Meath) and John Lynch(Tyrone) represented Lucan Sarsfields in their team named ALL STARS 4. Dublin Senior Captain Denise Masterson's family and friends had David Mitchell (AKA Jimmy Doyle from Faircity on their team) who drew a lot attention from the girls on the day. On the golf front Team O'Connor from Naomh Mearnog captained by Bart O'Connor father of Dublin Senior Lady Goalkeeper Cliona O'Connor lifted the new cup. Team O'Connor narrowly edged out the St Brigids team on a count back, with both teams finishing on 95 points. Other teams that took part in the competition were :- Another Dublin Goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton's family and friends had a team in the Classic. Stephens's sister Avril has just returned form travelling around the world and has rejoined the Dublin Ladies Squad for 2008. Dublin Ladies Minor Management team Martina Farrell, David Cullen, Frankie Byrne and Ann O'Mahoney who only last week won the Leinster championship. The day was deemed a great success by everybody and new Dublin Ladies Gaelic Chairperson Camillus Kilpatrick thanked the organising committee, sponsors, and competitors for a wonderful day. During the presentation of the prizes Team Camillus Kilpatrick, picked up the consolation prize for the lowest score, which drew great applause as Camillus presented his team mates with their prizes of umbrellas.
