In the coming months Tracy Piggot’s charity Playing for Life (www.playingforlife.ie) will be holding a series of 5 – 10km charity
runs throughout Ireland. Playing for Life runs projects in Tanzania, Malawi, and Kenya that provide facilities for the development of vocational education and training, community development, and a health awareness programme for children and young adults through sports and sporting activities.

The up and coming ‘fun runs’ are part of their Run to Africa initiative (www.runtoafrica.org). The latest Dublin runs to be
confirmed are a 5km run in Malahide Castle on the 13th of September at 11.00, and an 8km run starting from Lucan GAA Club on the 27th of September at 12.30. The registration fee of 20 euro per person goes to the charity Playing for Life and will help in the execution of the various overseas projects this year.

While participants can simply turn up on the day, pay the registration fee and run the event, there is also the additional possibility of collecting further sponsorship for Playing for Life or even for a charity or organisation of your own choice.

There will be various categories of entry for individual runners, but also of great interest is the sports team/club category. The category allows any group of 5 or more who arrive in their team jerseys or singlets to attempt to be the first sports team/club with the first five runners past the post to win an extra cash prize.
Not only is the Run to Africa initiative collecting funds for its own worthy cause, but it is also providing participants with a hassle free way of raising funds for charities or sporting organisations of their choice.
