Evening Echo Cork Club Championship kicks off

CORK LADIES FOOTBALL

EVENING ECHO SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 TUESDAY 9
AUGUST 2004

CARRIGALINE IMOKILLY 9-19 MUSKERRY 1-2

On Tuesday evening last the Evening Echo senior ladies
football championship kicked off. Played in perfect
conditions in Carrigaline GAA pitch, Imokilly dominated
throughout with some exceptional movement off the
ball and passing. The majority of the team is made
up from the successful east Cork club Inch and boasts
a number of county players.

On the other hand, it was Muskerry’s first time fielding
a team at senior level in two years. Despite this
beat defeat it is great to see that effort is being
placed into developing the divisional teams to compete
in the senior championship.

For Imokilly, Angela Walsh, Annemarie Walsh and Mairead
Kennedy all played well as did Ciara Walsh. For Muskerry
Ann Keohane and sisters Deirdre and Jackie Nagle,
all from the Ballincollig club played well. Imokilly
will now play the Junior Club All-Ireland champions
Gabriel Rangers in the second round on August 30,
a clash which promises to be a great game.

Scorers for Imokilly: M Kennedy 5-2 (2-0 penalties),
