First Rules panel to be finalised on Saturday

First Rules panel to be finalised on Saturday

The final trial for the first Irish Ladies
International Rules panel will take place this Saturday in Mullingar.

The Irish team will play two Tests against the visiting Australian
side, the first taking place on October 31 with the second Test taking
place just four days later.

Manager Jarlath Burns has been very impressed by the attitude and
commitment the players have shown over the past weeks. “We had
a bleep test at the start of the last session and the fitness levels
are superb. We are all very pleased with the effort the girls have
put in over the last few weeks.

“We have been bowled over by the players’ enthusiasm. Mayo’s
Cora Staunton was in an accident and was a bit shook up but she still
picked up the rest of the Mayo players, apologised for being late
and insisted on playing a full trial match,” said Burns.

A squad of 20 players will be selected on Saturday night and 10 players
will be added to the squad from the Cork and Armagh camps following
the All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football final in Croke Park on October
1.
