Former Heroes Invited to Return for New 7's Competition

To mark the 40th year of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association a very special All Ireland 7’s tournament will take place this September as part of the TESCO HomeGrown All Ireland 7’s competition on September 28th, the night before the 40th All Ireland Final. There have been a catalogue of great exponents of our game that have represented their counties with distinction during our 40 year history and those players are now being invited to lace up their football boots once again and wear their county colours at the ‘Former County Players 7-a-side Competition.’

This competition will take place as part of the overall TESCO HomeGrown All Ireland 7’s competition at Naomh Mearnóg and St. Sylvesters GAA Clubs in Portmarnock on September 28th. 6 County teams will be accepted into this unique competition and players must be over the age of 30 and cannot have played inter-county football within the last 5 years.

This competition gives some of the great names of our sport the opportunity to return to the game that they love and renew some friendly rivalries and perhaps make up for some previous results in a competitive environment.

Applications for the 6 positions must come through the county board  by no later than Friday, May 31st to Lynsavage@ladiesgaelic.ie and the application form is available with full details here: Former Players Entry form
