Foxrock Cabinteely U16s Secure The Double

Monday the 15th of May 2006 and the U-16 league
final of 2005 was to take place with Foxrock-Cabinteely Vs Croí
Ró Naofa. The atmosphere was intense as the last two encounters
between these teams left only a point in the difference and due
to a draw in the league this was now the playoff. 

Elaine Bolger returned as captain for the day with a squad made
up of both 2005 and 2006 players. The first half was full of action
with superb goals from Gemma McKechnie, Amy Ring and Amy Connolly.
The Fox-Cab defence was strong and Croí Ró Naofa
were only able to secure points in the first half, with Alishe
Conlon in goals making save after save. At half time there was
only 2 goals in it.

Croí Ro Naofa came out with all guns blazing in the second
half securing 4 points in the first 5 minutes. Foxrock Cabinteely
had to respond accordingly and with a beautiful passage of play
from Alishe Conlon to Ciara Murphy at mid field all the way up
to Amy Ring at full forward another goal was secured by the Fox/Cabs.
Foxrock Cabinteely then went on to secure a succession of points
from midfielders to full forwards. The level of skill that the
girls displayed was immense and really showed the development
that this game has undergone in the last few years. There was
a total of 35 points and 10 goals scored on the night with Foxrock
Cabinteely securing the title with a final score of 7-23 to 3-12.

Although there was a large gap in the score this was not indicative
of the intensity of the game as both sides gave it their all and
it was a spectacle admired by a large crowd on the night. This
years league final was to take place on Sunday the 21st of May
with Foxrock-Cabinteely Vs St.Brigids. Foxrock Cabinteely were
awarded a walk over on the day and have now secured the second
league title at U16 in succession. A
