Foxrock/Cabinteely Name Same Team for All Ireland Final

Foxrock/Cabinteely have named the same starting 15 players for the All

Ireland Junior Final, for their 5th Championship game in a row. Despite

incurring a number of injuries over the past 2 weeks in the Dublin U16 and

Minor Championships Finals it is hoped that all will be fit and well for

the Junior decider this Sunday in Toomevarra.

Sinead Murphy, Michelle Kennedy, Kirstie Mc Ardle and Sinead Goldrick have

benefitted from rest and hopefully the remaining few days will see a full

recovery.

Selector Pat Ring, who is also Minor Manager, stated that ” all players do

not want to miss out on the opportunity to play in an All Ireland Final.

After having an injury free season, we seemed to hit an unlucky run over

the past few weeks. Michelle took a knock in the Leinster semi final which

has curtailed her involvement since but we hope she will be fully fit in

time.”

“The School sporting activities are in full swing just now and most

players are involved in at least 1 other sport. We have taken the sensible

approach of resting players who have had niggles or who simply are

involved in a lot of other sporting activities. While it means we have not

had a full attendance for trainings, I think our approach has helped to

keep the players injury – free. Unfortunately, the injuries we’ve had,

like ankle sprains and knee ligament damage are slow injuries to heal at

the best of times. We won’t know for certain until the game starts but our

walking wounded have asked that they be given every chance to recover in

time.”

On the other hand player welfare is of paramount importance to us, and, if

a player is not fit to start we will look to our bench”

He continued “Our numbers are small anyway so we considered it prudent to

add Niamh Collins and Ciara O’Riordan to the panel this week. We are

delighted with the performance of Niamh and Ciara over the past few weeks

in the U16 and Minor Championship Finals. The step up to an Adult final is

huge but at least it will be a great experience for both young players who

are excited at the prospect of being involved”
