Jason Sherlock has done it. And even Peter The Great has given it a go. That’s right. The biggest names in Gaelic football have all coached at the Gaelicperformance Summer Camp, the only residential Gaelic football camp in the country. And it’s here again. This year, the camp will run from Sunday July 8 until Friday July 13 at Gormanstown College in County Meath and is open to both boys and girls from 12 to 16. Over the past two years, players of all levels and abilities have attended the camp including a number of 2007 County Minor players. This year, berths are filling up quicker than ever with more than half the allocated places already taken by youngsters who attended previous camps. More than 230 players have so far benefited from the camps and as well as the craic, most campers report a vast improvement in their game by the end of the week. Along with Oisin, Jason and Peter, other top players and coaches who have dropped in to lend a hand and offer expert advice include Mickey Harte, Enda McNulty, Bryan Cullen, John Morrison, Graham Geraghty, Colin Moran, Darren Magee, Andy and Brian Mallon, Joe McMahon, Ciaran Hanratty and Ronan Flanagan. The first class facilities at Gormanstown College also mean the youngsters not only have the benefit of excellent outdoor pitches but in the event of rainy weather, they can use a huge indoor facility so no time is ever lost. There is also a swimming pool, a running track, and a golf course.
