Gaelic4Girls reaching new heights in Britain!

Up to 200+ girls, ranging from ages between 10 to 17 years of age and representing 12 ladies football clubs across Britain participated in a fun filled day of ladies Gaelic football in Greenford, London last weekend at the ABC Games. This was a huge increase on participation in comparison to our inaugural event held in the same venue last year.

There were teams at under 12, 14 and 17 level and all players received a special LGFA goody bag and medals from LGFA President Marie Hickey and CEO Helen O Rourke. This was to recognise their efforts throughout the day and over the last number of weeks for those clubs involved in our Gaelic4Girls programme.  Over 50 coaches representing 14 clubs participated in the training in April all over the Country. The follow on from this saw over 300 girls experiencing Ladies Gaelic football for the first time which we hope will provide the platform to introducing a more sustainable structure for our game into the future in Britain.

All the games on the day were also officiated by referees who attended the LGFA Grab your Whistle Go Games course that was delivered on the Thursday night prior to the weekend. Great fun was had by all and there was plenty of encouragement and laughter heard all over the venue throughout the day.

From what was witnessed at the recent ABC Games, it seems ladies football is continuing to grow throughout Britain!
