Galway and Mayo to play again after thrilling draw

TG4
ALL-IRELAND SEMI-FINALS

GALWAY 1-10 v MAYO 1-10

After a titantic struggle Mayo and Galway will
have to replay their TG4 All-Ireland Ladies semi-final
next Saturday after a sensational finish in O’Moore
Park today. Mayo with Cora Staunton in devastating
form appeared to be coasting to yet another All-Ireland
final but Galway hit 1-4 in the final five minutes
to almost steal a famous win.

Galway Centre-Forward Niamh Fahy snuck through
a long range free attempt into the bottom left
corner of the Mayo goal and Galway dramatically
took the lead after 58 minutes thanks to Patricia
Gleeson’s long-range effort.

Mayo showed great determination and rallied and
won a free which was coolly converted by Cora
Staunton – who finished the game with a personal
tally of 1-8. Mayo ended the match with 14 players
after Diane O’Hora was dismissed following a collision
with Marie O’Connell on 43 minutes. She now is
due to miss the replay through suspension.

Next
weekends game should also be a titanic struggle
as these teams know each other well, amazingly
this will be the 4th time these two teams play
in this years TG4 All-Ireland championship
