Garda Vetting Form Changing

Regarding National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016, we have been informed that the Acts will now come into effect on 29 April 2016 thus introducing, in the 26 Counties, the mandatory vetting of all persons who work with children or underage teams, i.e teams and individuals under 18 yrs. of age, and to those who work with vulnerable adults as well.

Once the Acts commence there will be new forms and a new process which we will advise once all details are finalised.

We would be grateful if you could circulate to all Clubs in your County to inform them of the dates listed below :

  • 8 April 2016:  LGFA shall cease accepting any current vetting applications from members and units of the Association as and from close of business on 8 April 2016.  Any vetting application received after that date shall not be processed for forwarding to the Garda Central Vetting Bureau due to their own cut off dates.

  • 15 April 2016: The Garda Central Vetting Bureau shall cease accepting vetting forms from LGFA in advance of the commencement of new vetting forms on 1st May .  Any forms that have been accepted by the Garda Central Vetting Bureau up to and including that date shall be processed.

  • 1 May 2016:  :  LGFA shall commence accepting new Vetting Forms (details re process to follow once confirmed) and shall as a matter of priority concentrate on retrospective vetting and on the vetting of new applicants.
