Glennon Brothers proudly support Longford Ladies

Glennon Brothers, a third generation Longford timber business, is delighted to announce its 3 year sponsorship of Longford Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA).

 

This exciting announcement covers the Longford LGFA Senior team, who began their Lidl NFL campaign against Wicklow at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park yesterday. This sponsorship will also cover U/14, U/16 and minor LGFA teams.

On May 18^th 2021 Glennon Brothers, a third generation family timber processing business, entered into an agreement with SHV Energy to purchase Balcas Ltd, subject to approval from the Competition and Markets Authority in the UK and Competition and Consumer Protection Commission in Ireland.

 

Glennon Brothers won the 2019 and 2020 TTJ Awards (Timber Trade Federation) for ‘Softwood Trader of the Year’. The TTJ Awards is widely seen as the most prestigious in the timber sector, ranging from forestry, production, distribution and end user markets and recognising companies in Ireland, the UK and globally for achievements in the Timber Trade Industry.

 

Glennon Brothers won the 2019 Hardware Association of Ireland (HAI), ‘Best Supplier Customer Experience’ Award.

 

In 2019, Glennon Brothers invested £14m in the Windymains (Scotland) facility, including a new log yard, log grader with 3D scanning capability, log sorter and additional drop sorter to increase production capacity by an additional 40,000m3.

 

In 2018, Glennon Brothers completed a £14 million investment in a state of the art biomass Combined Heat & Power Plant (CHP) in Troon (Scotland) facility. The plant produces 8MW of thermal energy and 2.5MW of electrical power, sufficient to supply the entire site, with surplus energy being exported to the national grid.  A new Progressive kiln was also installed, that has increased KD drying capacity of 50,000m3 per annum.

 

In 2014, Glennon Brothers completed a €14 million investment into value added processing facilities, in Fermoy, Co. Cork. The development featured a Lineal High-Speed Grader, which combines the technologies of x-ray, ultrasound, vibration, and vision and is the first of its kind in Europe.

 

In 2014, the first landing craft, timber transport service to the west coast of Scotland was launched at the Glennon Brothers site in the port of Troon. The landing craft “Red Princess” provides a practical, innovative solution, for otherwise inaccessible coastal forests on the west coast of Scotland.

 

In 2013, Glennon Brothers were awarded a coveted Ruban d’Honneur medal by the European Business Awards.

In recognition of the response to the collapse of the Irish construction sector, Glennon Brothers was awarded the Ernest & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award ‘Industry Category’ in 2010.

 

In 2009, Glennon Brothers achieved a first in the history of Irish and UK sawmilling sector, by exporting shipments of home grown timber to France.
