Glenveagh Homes become new title sponsors of LGFA’s Gaelic4Girls programme

THE Ladies Gaelic Football Association is delighted to announce Glenveagh Homes as new sponsors of the LGFA’s Gaelic4Girls Programme.

This exciting new sponsorship will cover a three-year term – 2021-2023 inclusive – with Glenveagh Homes coming on board to sponsor one of the LGFA’s most important development programmes.

Gaelic4Girls is an eight-week programme incorporating coaching sessions with fun, non-competitive blitzes aimed at increasing participation in Ladies Gaelic Football.

The programme targets girls aged 8-12 years who are not currently registered with a Ladies Gaelic Football club.

Leading inter-county stars Aimee Mackin (Armagh) and Jennifer Higgins (Roscommon) were on hand to mark the announcement of the new sponsorship.

Mackin was named 2020 TG4 Senior Players’ Player of the Year while Higgins is a long-serving Roscommon player, who made her 100th appearance in a county shirt against Offaly during the 2020 Championship.

Roscommon centurion and Gaelic4Girls ambassador Jennifer Higgins was on hand to mark the new sponsorship.

Mackin and Higgins are both current Gaelic4Girls ambassadors – and Mackin’s path to the very top of the sport began with her club Shane O’Neills, with the Gaelic4Girls programme as part of the club’s start-up.

Ladies Gaelic Football Association President Mícheál Naughton said: “We are delighted to welcome on board Glenveagh Homes as sponsors of our Gaelic4Girls programme.

“There is a real synergy between the work that we do with the Gaelic4Girls programme, and the impact of Glenveagh Homes in local communities.

“For many young girls, the Gaelic4Girls programme is their first experience of Ladies Gaelic Football, while Glenveagh Homes/Properties are also heavily invested in the future plans of people, building homes in areas where people want to live, and at more affordable prices.

“The Gaelic4Girls programme, just like the work of Glenveagh Homes/Properties, has left an indelible imprint in many local communities across the country.

“We look forward to working with Glenveagh Homes over the next three years and it is great to welcome them into our family of sponsors.”

Speaking on behalf of Glenveagh Homes, CEO Stephen Garvey added: “We are proud to partner with the LGFA and to support the Gaelic for Girls initiative for the coming season. The sponsorship allows us to support clubs at grassroots level and is an important programme for communities right across the country. We look forward to working together with the LGFA to support such a great initiative.”
