Government Intercounty Support Scheme Confirmed for 2024

In 2024, an investment of €2,641,791 by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and the Media, will be delivered for female inter county camogie and Ladies football players and teams through the Government Inter County Support Scheme via Sport Ireland and National Governing bodies.

The Government Intercounty Support Scheme for Camogie and Ladies Football adult intercounty teams was launched in February 2017 and has continued to progress annually. The Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) and Camogie Association wish to express their gratitude to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and the Media, along with Sport Ireland, for their continued support. This support scheme is made available each year for intercounty ladies football and camogie teams competing in the National Leagues and All-Ireland Championships.

The funding acknowledges that financial support is required in counties to ensure that intercounty players have the opportunity to reach their potential as athletes. Through this funding, the highest-grade Ladies Football and Camogie teams in each code in each county are eligible for funding supports to provide an enhanced playing and training environment for the full team.

In 2024, there will be a team funding allocation of €14,000 in Government funding available to the highest-grade adult county teams participating in the National Leagues and All-Ireland Championships, with a significant further allocation being provided directly by the LGFA and Camogie Association towards these team supports. In addition, €28,365 in Government funding is allocated to each county for player expenses, including travel and nutrition. Additional funding for these elements is being provided once again by the LGFA and Camogie Association to support the delivery of each counties player charter, in addition to the funds invested by county boards in the development and operation of female county teams.

The Player Health Check Programme will continue, through Government support, with access for all county teams. This programme provides opportunities for individual multifaceted health assessments and aims to identify and inform players about general health and performance elements. This health check is unique to the female teams.

The Government Intercounty support scheme total allocation for the female codes, including both team and player expense funding, is €2,641,791 in 2024, which will be administered through the two national governing bodies.

The LGFA and Camogie Association welcome this support and recognition of female intercounty teams and players for 2024, and the significant assistance that this provides to enhancing the playing experience for female adult inter county players.
