04 February 2014 Henry Grimes RIP Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! Henry Oliver Grimes April 5, 1922 – February 1, 2014 Passed away suddenly on February 1, 2014 following a brief illness. Henry was born and raised in in Dundalk Co. Louth, the 12th of a family of 21, he worked for several years for the CIE and then emigrated to Toronto in 1956. Shortly after his arrival in Toronto he found employment with the Toronto Transit Commission, (TTC) and became actively involved in the Irish Choral Society and the Toronto GAA, he was a member of the Garryowen Gaelic Football Club and more recently the Toronto Gaels Gaelic Football Club. Henry was the recipient of the Toronto Gaa Senior Merit Award in 2012, this prestigious award is presented annually to those who have given a lifetime of service to the GAA in Toronto, Henry was not one to rest on his laurels, after his retirement from the TTC, he became a founding member of the Emerald Isle Seniors Society and was also a founding member of the County Louth Association. He was a friendly and familiar face in the Irish community, and rarely missed a Sunday in Centennial Park. Henry is predeceased by his wife Kitty and is survived by his brothers Brendan and Michael.
