Holton Calls Time on Glittering Career

Kildare’s Aisling Holton has called time on her Intercounty career after representing the Lilywhites with distinction for 14 years.

The Balyna midfielder played her first match for Kildare in 2003 when she lined out against Tipperary.

Holton was a member of the Kildare team that claimed the TG4 Junior All Ireland title in 2003 and returned to Croke Park in 2015 only to lose out to Waterford. However, in 2016 the Lilywhites returned to Croke Park with Aisling captaining the side as they defeated Clare and Holton lifted the TG4 Intermediate All Ireland title.

The year, and subsequently Aisling’s career, was brought to a fitting end as she was selected, by her fellow players, as the 2016 TG4 Intermediate Player’s Player of the Year.

Well done to Aisling on a great career and best of luck to her in the future.
