Cork’s Inch Rovers will be looking for revenge over 2007 Vhi Healthcare All Ireland Club Champions Carnacon as both teams meet again to battle it out for the 2008 senior title this weekend.

Carnacon have a very experienced side with nine of their players representing Mayo in the 2008 All Ireland Championship, including scoring sensation Cora Staunton alongside Sharon and Caroline McGing and Fiona McHale.

However, Inch Rovers possess a number of players from the four-in-a-row All Ireland winning Cork team making them a serious force to be reckoned with. The team includes Rebelettes captain Angela Walsh who collected her fourth All Star last weekend as well as Mary O’Connor and Amy O’Shea.

Emyvale of Monaghan have gone from strength to strength over the last number of years and after winning the 2006 Vhi Healthcare All Ireland Junior Club Championship they have now qualified for this year’s intermediate final. The Farney girls will face another Cork side Ballingeary Inchigeela who have reached a national final for the first time.

Mayo are represented again in the junior final with Knockmore taking on Kilmihil of Clare.

The Vhi Healthcare All Ireland Senior Club Championship final will take place on Sunday, 23rd November at 2.30pm in O’Connor Park, Tullamore. TG4 will show deferred coverage of the game at 5pm on Sunday. The Intermediate final will take place on Sunday, 30th November with the junior final taking place on Saturday, 29th November. Throw-in for both games is 2pm and venues are to be confirmed.

Geraldine Giles, Uachtaran Peil Gael na mBán, said, “The Club Championships have provided us with huge excitement again in 2008. Each division has been very competitive and a number of clubs have emerged as real forces to be reckoned with, reflecting the developing strength of our game at grass roots. Once again, I would like to extend my thanks to Vhi Healthcare for their ongoing support of the Ladies Football Club Championships. ”

Declan Moran, Director of Marketing and Business Development, Vhi Healthcare, said, “Vhi Healthcare is delighted to be associated with such an exciting championship and we would like to congratulate all the teams and clubs on reaching the final stages. It is great to see teams returning from last year as well as some who have qualified for the first time. We wish all of you the very best of luck and look forward to exciting matches over the next two weeks.”

In a new departure this year, the Vhi Healthcare Club Person of the Year will have provincial winners as well as an All Ireland winner. Nominations are currently being accepted and winners will be announced in early December.
