September is Heart Month and this Heart Month the Irish Heart Foundation are saying: #HerHeartMatters ❤️ One in four women die from heart disease and stroke Women are six times more likely to die from cardiovascular disease than breast cancer 80% of early deaths from heart disease and stroke are preventable Women’s risk of heart disease and stroke increase as they enter menopause Research shows that heart disease in women is under-researched, under-diagnosed, and under-treated These are the stark messages from the ‘Her Heart Matters’ campaign by the Irish Heart Foundation which aims to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke in women. As part of the campaign, which is kindly supported by the HSE and Healthy Ireland, the Irish Heart Foundation have developed a range of resources to help you protect your heart health during and after menopause. These supports can all be found on their website: https://bit.ly/3RoXwtA and include a Health and Wellbeing Journal, information resources on menopause and cardiovascular disease and a #HerHeartMatters Self-Assessment Tool which allows women to identify small changes they can make in their lives to improve their heart health. This September, the Irish Heart Foundation are inviting LGFA clubs all around Ireland to help spread awareness of this campaign and its important message. They are asking teams to sign up for a bundle of temporary #HerHeartMatters tattoos, apply them and post their team photos to social media with the hashtag #HerHeartMatters and some of the campaign messages above. Sample Instagram post: One in four women will die from heart disease and stroke. However, 80% of early deaths from heart disease and stroke are preventable. This September we are proud to support the @irish_heart_foundation #HerHeartMatters campaign which aims to increase awareness of the risk of heart disease and stroke in women and the fact that this risk increases as women enter menopause.
