What is The Sporting Chance Programme?

‘Sporting Chance’ is a ground-breaking new National training
programme to enable people with disabilities and others who
are marginalised to build careers as future coaches, leaders
and managers in the sports and leisure industry.

Course Aim

The programme has been specifically developed to assist participants
in gaining employment in the sports and leisure industry, or
progressing onto further training and education in this field.
Commencing with core FETAC and industry qualifications, additional
qualifications required for students to progress into opportunities
in their chosen field are delivered through an individual action
plan approach

Course Qualifications

· FETAC Health Related Fitness level 3 (level 4 and 5 where
applicable), · National Governing Body Coaching Awards · National
Certificate in Exercise (where applicable)· National pool lifeguard
qualification (where applicable) · Occupational First Aid

Course Schedule

The first half of the course will concentrate on an industry
overview combined with core modules and multi sport sampling,
the second half will focus on achieving National Governing Body
awards in area of specialisation

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be over 16 years of age and be eligible, or
currently, in receipt of a disability payment

Location and Accommodation

The National Learning Network Kerry’s centre in Tralee Co. Kerry

but support in locating suitable options is available

Course Duration

August 2007 to December 2008
