Irish Independent/Lucozade Sport Player of the Month
for November

Donaghmoyne’s Caitriona McConnell named Irish
Independent/Lucozade Sport Player of the Month for November.

The sixth year student from Inver College, Carrickmacross put
in a stand-out performance for her club side Donaghmoyne in the
Vhi Healthcare All Ireland Ladies Senior Club Championship final
in Dromard, Co. Longford.

The Donaghmoyne forward was a member of the team who lost out
in last year’s final to Ballyboden St Endas, but was determined
to avoid disappointment two years in a row and scored an astonishing
1-9 in this year’s final against Mayo outfit Carnacon.

She also notched up an incredible 3-66 in the club championship
this season and picked up the Player of the Match award in the
Ulster final, the All-Ireland semi-final and All-Ireland final.

McConnell had a double cause for celebration last Sunday. She
played a major role in winning the Senior Club championship for
her side for the first time in their history and also celebrated
her 17th birthday that very same day.

“I’m delighted to accept this award. Sunday was a very special
day for me and for everyone involved with Ladies Football in Donaghmoyne
and to win the All Ireland Club Championship on my birthday was
just the icing on the cake,” said McConnell.
