Jackies snatch 3 Points from Cork!

Jackies bring the game to Cork

The Rebelettes played host to Round 1 of the Bord Gais Senior League in Fermoy this afternoon. Despite the dire warnings of fog by the weatherman, the day was cold and dry a good day for playing football, and as it turned out, a good day for Dublin.

Pirc Mac Gearailt was looking well when Keith Delahunty threw the ball in at 2.30 on the button. Noelle Healy put the first score on the board for the visitors which was shortly added to by one from the home side. Noelle upped the ante by adding a goal. The Jackies conceded a penalty which was converted by Valery Mulcahy who added a goal and a point of her own in the first half. Nollaig Cleary and Deirdre OReilly were the other Cork scorers. During the period Niamh McEvoy was replaced by Natalia Hyland and the half finished level pegging at the break with Amy McGuinness [0-1], Sinead Ahearne [0-3] and Elaine Kelly [0-1] levelling up the Dublin tally.

The curtain raised on the second act with a replacement. Naomh Peregrines Emma Travers started in place of Colleen Barrett. Lyndsey Davey put the Jackies ahead with a point early on and this was followed by five more before the final whistle. Also on the stats book were S Ahearne [0-1] N Healy [0-1] and Niamh Hurley who replaced Elaine Kelly. Bernie Finlay was injured and replaced by Gemma Fay who bagged a point of her own. Lyndsey put another over bring the Dublin total to 6 points in the second half. The only Cork score of the half came off the boot of Deirdre OReilly who tucked a neat goal into the back of the Dublin netting.

Foxrock Cabinteelys Sinead Goldrick made a welcome return to the squad today and put in a fine performance.
