Johnny Hayes RIP

It is with great sadness that the death has been announced of Johnny Hayes. Johnny was one of the leading figures in Clare Ladies Football and was one of the key people involved in the highly successful LGFA Annual congress held in Clare just last weekend.

Johnny was honoured for his contribution to Ladies Football in 2010 as he was inducted into the LGFA Hall of Fame, he also served on the Fixtures Committee for several years.

Johnny was perhaps best known as a referee who took charge of matches at every level including refereeing the 1988 Junior All Ireland Final between London and Leitrim.

He served at almost every level in the Clare County Board including as chair between 1988 and 1992 and again between 2008 and 2010 and he served as Vice Chairperson until his untimely passing.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Christina, his two daughters, Michelle and Nicole, and his son  Brian.
