Keegan and Clarke win the Dublin player of the year awards The ONEILLS Dublin Ladies Awards night took place last Saturday, congratulations to Ballyboden St Endas A and B teams, Na Fianna, Man-O-War, Fingallians and St Brigids who were all presented with their Dublin Club Championship medals. The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the ONEILLS Dublin Senior and Junior Player of the Year Awards; this years winners were: ONEILLS DUBLIN SENIOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR Louise Keegan. ONEILLS DUBLIN SENIOR YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR Cliodhna O Connor. ONEILLS DUBLIN JUNIOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR- Anne Clarke. ONEILLS DUBLIN JUNIOR YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR Louise Kidd. Ex Dublin star Christina McGinty was the first recipient of the ONEILLS Dublin Ladies Hall of Fame Award for services to the County and Club, An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern presented Christina with her Award and in his speech acknowledged the tremendous contribution that Christina had given to the game Ladies Gaelic Football both as a player and a coach. Royston Brady and his wife Michelle, O NEILLS CEO Tony Towell and Mrs ONeill, President of Cumann Peil Gael na Mban Geradline Giles, Cumann Peil Gael na Mban CEO Helen ORourke, Leinster Secretary Cathal Friel, Dublin CLG CEO John Costello, and senior team sponsor Bernard Lynch of the Cuckoos Nest. The Dublin senior team under new team manager John OLeary begin their Suzuki National League campaign on Sunday February 1st when they take on old rivals Meath. The game is fixed for Simonstown Co. Meath with a 2.00pm throw in. Round Two of the Suzuki National League takes place the following Sunday the 8th of February Dublin seniors play Laois at 2.00pm with the Dublin Juniors taking on Wexford at 12.45pm, both of these games will take place in Na Fiannas club grounds on Mobhi Road and not OToole Park as originally advertised. The matches on February 8th will be Dublins only home games this season in the National League. Admission 5.00 Adults, Students 3.00, Juveniles U/14 free. Clubs are requested to bring along as many of their players and members on the 8th of February to encourage and support our County Teams. A number of clubs have failed to return the club questionnaire forms for this coming season, these forms most be returned asap in order for the relevant fixtures secretaries to prepare the format for this coming season.
