Kerry Ladies Development Blitz U-13

Kerry Stars of tomorrow battle Cork and the elements

While the curtain might have come down on a pretty successful year for Kerry Ladies Football, Rathmore hosted the stars of the future last Saturday at a development blitz day against our good neighbours and All Ireland standard bearers Cork.

In all 70 Kerry girls made up 4 teams into Kerry North (2) and Kerry South (2). In what turned out to be a day of highly entertaining football for the large crowd that turned up.

It really is a mark of how far Kerry Ladies has come when Kerry All star Nominee Edel Murphy, Former Kerry Star Mary Jo Curran and current Kerry Junior Anna Marie O’Donoghue along with 10 other highly qualified coaches all put their team through their paces.

The blitz was run on a non competitive format that focused on the skill of team play and was part of the 10 week development programme being run by the County Board. However the competitive edge was evident to see too with many great performances from the girls and many players step out from their shell at the sight of the rebel jersey.

Its back to North and South Kerry this Saturday for the girls to further build on what they learned and onto to Cahir in Tipperary the following week for the Munster Blitz.

On a day when the cold was a constant enemy it was great to see the Rathmore club supplying tea and sandwiches for every parent and child alike.
