Congratulations to Kerry U14’s who defeated Cavan in the All Ireland U14 A Semi Final on Saturday. They will now meet Connacht champions Mayo in the final on July 20th after they defeated Dublin in the other semi/final. Kerry had a great start with Fiadhna Tangney pointing after just 45 seconds, with Erica McGlynn goaling after 11 minutes to leave Kerry with a commanding lead & dream start with Jade Powell adding a point. However something stirred within Cavan & they started to dominate the middle third creating a formidable diamond between midfield duo & their outstanding centre forward Michaela Fitzpatrick. Cavan got their first goal of the half on 13 mins & followed up with another just before the short whistle, Half Time Kerry 1-04, Cavan 2-02. Kerry resumed the second half making a few positional changes – Ciara Murphy went to centre back to curtail Cavan’s Michaela Fitzpatrick. Also midfield pairing of Labhaoise Walmsley & Sophie Lynch tightened up considerably. The difference was almost immediate with Fiadhna Tangney winning a penalty which was converted by Aoife O’Callaghan. However Cavan replied with two quick goals which left Kerry trailing 2-04 to 4-02. Fiadhna Tangney & Aoife O’Callaghan scored 2 points to put Kerry firmly in the hunt. Cavan were forced into giving away another penalty, a foul on Erica McGlynn which Aoife O’Callaghan coolly slotted away again. Kerry back in the lead. Shortly after Hannah O’Donoghue performing much better at wing back, won a great ball, worked it to her Fossa club mate Erica McGlynn who hit a rasper to the back of the Cavan net. Kerry up 4 points with 10 mins. Cavan replied with a point but unfortunately it was their last score of the game, a telling difference between the teams as they failed to score for the last 9 minutes of the game. Kerry however would add another point from Fiadhna Tangney & goal from Erica McGlynn. Kerry 5-07 Cavan 4-03.

The opening score of the game came from Scartaglin but Cromane replied soon after with one of their own from midfield Sadhbh Shaughnessy. Scartaglin who were beginning to come on top got 2 goals to pull ahead. However the Mid Kerry side replied with two of their own from Shannon Foley & Cora Joy.
