Kilmihil progress to Clare Intermediate
Final

Ladies Football Intermediate Semi-final. Kilmihil: 4-11 Liscannor:
1.05

Kilmihil and Liscannor contested the Intermediate semi-final in
Cooraclare on Sunday last. Kilmihil opened the scoring with a point
from Una Downes but Liscannor quickly cancelled this out with a
pointed free from Olivia Lucas. Suzanne Cagney rattled the Kilmihil
net with a well taken goal but Kilmihil replied immediately with
a great goal from Sarah Cahill. Una Downes added on a further point
for Kilmihil before Liscannor had their final score of this half
with a point from a free by Olivia Lucas. Eimear Considine scored
two points and these were followed by a point from Rosemary Currane,
a second goal from Sarah Cahill and a further point from Una Downes
leaving the half time score at 2.06 to 1.02 in favour of Kilmihil.

Kilmihil introduced Yvonne Downes after the interval but it was
Liscannor who got off to a better start with a point from Aine Burke.
Kilmihil got back into their stride with Helen Malone and Sarah
Cahill tacking on a point each. These were followed by a third goal
from the on form Sarah Cahill. Liscannor’s Aine Burke scored a point
but Kilmihil piled on the pressure which resulted in points from
Una Downes, Ailish Considine and Sarah Cahill. Leona Murphy concluded
Liscannor’s scoring with a point before Sarah Cahill netted her
fourth goal leaving the final score 4.11 to 1.05.

This was a tough hard fought game with both teams giving their all.
Kilmihil played as a unit and were more economical with scoring
chances. This excellent team performance began with goalie Siobhan
Egan who had a great game between the posts. Kilmihil backs gave
Liscannor forwards very few options and Joan O’Halloran led from
full back aided by Colette Downes and Elaine O’Halloran. Fiona O’Neill
controlled centre back and was ably assisted by Linda Russell and
Miriam Frawley. Dympna Walsh and Rosemary Currane worked tirelessly
and won the mid field battle. Kilmihl’s half forward line of Sharon
O’Gorman, Una Downes and Helen Malone played excellent football
and linked up well with the full forward line of Ailish Considine,
Sarah Cahill and Eimear Considine. Yvonne Downes and Evelyn McGuane
did well when introduced.

Liscannor had good performances from Aine Burke, Carmel Considine,
Aine Greene and Leona Murphy.
