Kilmurry Ibrikane Host Under 16 Seven-a-Side Tournament

Kilmurry Ibrickane Ladies Club are hosting their inaugural ‘KIB Under 16 Club 7-a-side Competition’ this weekend.

The idea for the tournament stemmed from the club’s appearance in the finals of the Kilmacud Crokes Under 14 7’s tournament last year, the friendships established and the knowledge gained from the experience inspired the Clare club to establish a similar venture for Under 16 clubs from all over the country.

Speaking about the inaugural competition Therese Doohan said ‘One conversation that came up time after time was the fall off in interest of girls aged 15 upwards.  To this end and with the forward thinking of our Club Committee we sent our proposal  to the LGFA office in February.  Attending the Central Council meeting in March we were granted permission to hold this Annual Event.’

Then the work began we set about getting the 32 teams we sent the invitation to the County & Provincial Secretaries and to the LGFA web site and The Annual Munster Ladies Program.   As you can see we have excellent National representation and are looking forward to an exciting competition.  We have teams from Clare, Kildare, Tipperary, Cork, Kerry, Offaly, Galway, Waterford, Roscommon, Dublin, Limerick, Wexford, Laois, Monaghan, Antrim, Mayo and Longford. (Full team list attached)

We are so lucky to have access to top quality playing fields We would like to thank the Kilmurry Ibrickane GAA, Miltown Malbay GAA, Kilmihil GAA  and Mullagh Sports field for use of their fine facilities for hosting this All Ireland 7’s.

It has been a lot of hard work getting to this stage with only one week to go.   Our ladies club committee has worked tirelessly to make this event a success we have had the full backing and support of The Kilmurry Ibrickane Mens Club, The Clare Ladies County board, Clare Sports partnership, The Munster Ladies Provinical Council A special thanks to the many local, county & national businesses who have so generously sponsored us. (Sponsors list attached)

We are most indebted to the volunteers who will be giving of their time on the day from

Refs, umpires, lines persons, pitch coordinators’ catering committee, administration staff, general dogs bodies, the go-for’s, FAS, RSS, pitch caretakers and our own Stadium Manager.

We are anticipating a large influx of people to the area for this weekend with 32 teams, their mentors and supporters, which will be very beneficial to the economy of Co Clare.

Last but not least to the Teams taking part their management and Clubs without them this event would not go ahead Thank you.’
