Ladies Football Club Championship Reaches Final Stages It is a bumper weekend of action in the Vhi Healthcare All Ireland Ladies Club Championships with senior provincial finals taking place in Munster, Ulster and Connacht. The Munster Final sees Waterfords Ballymacabry taking on Juliet Murphys Donoughmore from Cork. Donoughmore won the All Ireland Club Championship in 2001 and 2003 and were runners-up in 2004, so they know what it takes to make it all the way to the final. Juliet Murphy said, Ballymac have a great history in this competition and they recently won the 7s so they have a very strong side. They beat us four or five times in the Munster Final but since 2001 we have been getting the better of them and hopefully we can do the same on Sunday. However, Ballymacabry are a vertitable whos who of Waterford representative football and their team includes 8 players who lined out against Armagh in the All Ireland Championship quarter-finals. Ballymacabry are the most success team in the history of the competition, winning 10 All Ireland Club Championship titles in a twelve year period with their last title coming in 1998. Out west, Mayo All Star Cora Staunton will line out for her clubside Carnacon as they take on St Brigids from Roscommon in the Senior Connacht Final. Carnacon beat Galways Corofin to book their spot in the final and St Brigids accounted for Leitrims Aughawillan to secure their place in the Connacht Final. Three Ulster finals will take place this weekend with all three grades, Junior, Intermediate and Senior to be decided on Sunday. Donaghmoyne, who lost out to Ballyboden St Endas in last years All Ireland Club Championship final, can call on eight players from the Monaghan squad for their Ulster final clash with Carrickmore of Tyrone. Meanwhile, the Ladies International Rules panel will play a Challenge Match against TG4s Under Dogs this Friday in Cavan. The match will be used as a warm up ahead of the two Tests against Australia, the first of which takes place in Breffni Park on Tuesday 31st, October. Share this Article 0 0
