Every year a player from each province under the age of 16 is chosen for outstanding performances for club and county. All four winners will receive a presentation on the night of the All-Stars ceremony on Saturday, November 20th in CityWest. The winners are as follows: Leinster – Fiona Hudson (Fingallions, Dublin) The Fingallions player captained Dublin to their first U-14 All-Ireland title in 2004. Fiona was player of the match in the All-Ireland U-14 final and is one of the brightest prospects to come out of the capital for quite some time. She has been inspirational for her club and county all year. Ulster – Caitriona McConnell (Donaghmoyne, Monaghan) Although only 14, Caitriona will feature for Ulster Club Champions Donaghmoyne this weekend in the All-Ireland Club semi-finals. A superb left footed player, she is a dedicated trainer and is seen as one of the most outstanding young players the county has produced in many years and looks certain to be part of the Monaghan set up next season and for many years to come. Connacht – Therese Marren (Curry, Sligo) Another 14 year old, Therese has played at every level for Sligo. A national skills winner at the 2003 Feile, the Curry girl has also been inspirational for her club and school St Attractas in Tubbercurry who reached the Connacht finals at senior and junior level. For such a young player, she was still one of Sligo’s most effective forwards in their march to Croke Park this year to the junior final. Munster – Laura Power (Beara, Cork) 16 year old Laura from Beara in Cork is just one of several talented young players to come out of Cork. Despite being only 16, she has already won two All-Ireland minor titles to go with her three All-Ireland U-14 titles and two All-Ireland U-16 titles. Now an integral part of the Cork senior team, she won a Munster Championship with the county this year. Share this Article 0 0
