Laois defeat the reigning All-Ireland Champions

Laois Ladies qualified for the NFL Div 1 Final yesterday on the back of a 2-12 to 1-9 win over reigning All-Ireland Champions Mayo at Ballinrobe.Two goals from Sue Ramsbottom and Tracey Lawlor after the restart helped Laois overcome a two point deficit.

Ramsbottom’s score in the 36th minute and Lawlor’s penalty strike soon after turned the tide in Laois’s favour and not even a red card for Gemma O’Connor in the 43rd minute could deter Laois from victory.

Laois now play Kerry in the final in a match that is due to be broadcast live on TG4
