UNDER 16’s SINGING IN THE RAIN Laois Under 16’s gave a tremendous second half display to claim a 4-10 to 0-7 win over Wexford in the Leinster Championship at Mountmellick on St. Patrick’s Day. The game was evenly balanced in the opening half, with just a point separating the sides at the break as Laois led by 2-2 to 0-6 at the interval. Wind assisted, Laois took control on the restart, holding Wexford to just one point in the second half as they added 2-8 to ensure a 15-point win. Laois now face an away trip to Offaly on March 29th. U14’s LOSE, BUT NOT OUT Laois Under 14 girls took on Wicklow in Baltinglass on Saturday, but came away the vanquished after the Garden County claimed a 4-7 to 1-8 win. Despite the result, this was a brave performance by the O’Moore’s who trailed by just a point at the interval by 1-3 to 0-5. This game was close until midway through the second half when Wicklow got a few goals to pull away. Laois got some excellent scores throughout and played some good football but were unable to cope with the defence splitting runs by Wicklow. All the players tried hard and if they keep playing as a team there will be better days ahead. Laois now face an away trip to Westmeath on the 29th of March. LAOIS SENIORS BACK IN LEAGUE ACTION Following a break for 3rd level action, the Tesco Homegrown Ladies Football League resumes this weekend, with Laois hosting reigning League champions Monaghan on Sunday at 2pm in Stradbally. This will be one of the toughest assignments for Tom McKitterick’s charges, who have nine points from four games to date, having recorded wins over Tyrone, Donegal and Mayo. Laois currently sit in third spot in Division 1, just behind Cork by virtue of scoring difference. Make sure to get out to support Laois this weekend and be the ’16th player’ as the O’Moore’s bid to teach Monaghan a lesson!
