Ladies Football News MONAGHANS male footballers may be fighting for their Division One league survival on Sunday but today the girls from St Louis Secondary School in Monaghan town are aiming for a very different target. St Louis face Carlows St Leos Secondary School in the All-Ireland senior A schools final at St Peregrines in Dublin today (12.30) and the Monaghan outfit are in line for an amazing third successive title. The Farney girls have dominated schools football over the past two years but trainer Pauline Devlin believes they face their toughest challenge today. St Leos are very strong and they have beaten some good teams along the way. They have a number of Laois and Carlow minors playing with them, she said. St Louis experience at this stage will count for a lot though and it certainly does no harm having Monaghan senior county star Brenda McAnespie on the management team. Brendas daughters Ciara and Aoife are both key figures on the St Louis team. It would be great to win the three in a row. We won the All-Ireland back in 2000 but had to wait until 2004 to win it again. We managed to do the double last year so its great to be back in the final again, continued Pauline. Elsewhere in ladies football, it will be a big weekend for Dublin in the Suzuki National Football League as they face a relegation play-off against Tyrone. The game has been fixed for Sunday with a venue to be confirmed. The losers will tumble out of the top flight and be relegated to Division Two. It will also be a busy few days for Donegals senior team as they must play two league games in just three days after the initial matches were postponed earlier in the season. They face Meath on Friday and then host All-Ireland champions Cork on Sunday. Corks dual players including Angela Walsh are currently in Egypt on a team holiday with the camogie team. Armagh also face Mayo in Division One on Sunday. Share this Article 0 0
