U16. LEINSTER LEAGUE.
WICKLOW 6-7 LOUTH 1-8

Wicklow’s under sixteen side continued their
winning run when they defeated Louth by eleven
points when they met in Greystones on Saturday
evening last.The home side were in control through
out the game, however the final result does not
reflect Louth’s spirited performance.
Wicklow’s Tracey O’Halloran who scored 1-3 in
the opening half was first off the mark with two
points in the first couple of minutes of play.Louth’s
Lisa Kelly, a niece of Republic of Ireland defender
Gary Kelly,responded with a well taken point a
minute later.
Over the next ten minutes both side traded scores,
Niamh Coleman for the garden county slotting over
for a point followed by a goal from her trusted
right foot blasting the ball through the Louth
defence to the back of the net.Louth not to be
out done added four points to their tally, doing
the honours were Niamh Reid, Grainne Finnigan,
Michelle McCourt and Yvonne Brennan.
Wicklow’s midfield trio Jenny Diny,Lorna Fuscardi
and Loretta Gilbert worked hard in the opening
half to insure that the strike force of Niamh
Coleman, Lorna Fuscardi and Sarah McGraynor had
a good supply of ball.The home side finishing
the half with a point from Lorna Fuscardi, and
a Goal and a point from Tracey O’Halloran.

Lisa Kelly opened the second half for Louth with
a well worked point involving Bronagh McGrane,
Nadine Callan and Dearbhaile Sheils, Wicklow stepped
up a gear ,with three scores in as many minutes
Movita Murphy and Loretta Gilbert rattling the
Louth net followed by a point from Aimee Byrne,Michelle
McCourt for the visitors added to her tally when
she dropped over from distance.
Wicklow continued their forays forward bringing
out a number of good saves from Cadimhe Breen
in the Louth goals.however Loretta Gilbert and
Roisin Linnie did manage to slip in two more goals
with Movita Murphy adding a point. Niamh Reid
blasted the ball past Paula fox in the Wicklow
goals on the stroke of full time.
