Leinster LGFA Results & Semi-Final Details

On Saturday, Foxrock Cabinteely sealed their place in the Senior Club Championship semi-final with a 2-10 to 0-11 win over Sarsfields of Laois. Amy Ring and Hannah O’Neill got the all-important goals for the Dublin Champions. Their win sets up a semi-final pairing with Meath Senior Champions, Oldcastle. For the first time ever, Oldcastle Ladies captured the Meath Senior Championship title with a 1-09 to 1-06 win over Boardsmill in Skryne.

There was high drama in Tinahely Gaa Club as neither 60 minutes nor 20 mins of extra time could separate the home side and Meath’s Dunboyne. The game was decided by free kicks where they were finally separated at the 8th time of asking – Dunboyne’s Alison O’Sullivan getting the all-important score. They will now play Laois Champions Park Ratheniska Ladies Gaelic Football Club in the Intermediate Championship semi-final next weekend.

It was a damp Sunday, but nevertheless the action continued. Clann Na nGael Ladies booked their place in the Junior Championship semi-final with a 3-17 to 3-08 win over Bennykerry Tinryland. They now face Dromard of Longford for a place in the final.

The second round of the Aisling McGing U21 Championship has now also been played. In a damp and overcast Hawkfield, Kildare LGFA slipped to a second defeat – however the scoreboard did not reflect the play and Mayo’s goals came at fortunate times for the side from the West.

In Group B, Offaly Ladies Football’s journey to Clonguish was rewarded as they sealed all three points from Longford Ladies with a four point win – 4-13 to 3-12. Finally, in Dunboyne, goals from Niamh Gallogly and Vikki Wall helped Meath LGFA to record their second win in the competition, beating a determined Tyrone by 2-15 to 0-16.
