Leinster minor football championship Dublin 2-14 Westmeath 1-7 Dublin secured their place in the Leinster Ladies’ football minor title, when they overcame the Westmeath challenge in the semi-final, played in the Garda GAA grounds Westmanstown on Saturday April 29th 2006. Westmeath opened the scoring with a well taken point from Susan Kiernan in the 5th minute. The St Sylvester’s Vivienne Lee got Dublin’s opening score, when she goaled from a rebound from Westmeath’s keeper, Claire Judge. Then Dublin scored another 5 points before Westmeath scored again, leaving the half-time score Dublin 1-6 Westmeath 0-2. Westmeath started the second half well, with 2 pointed frees from Leona Archibald. Then Dublin’s second goal, by Aoife McGovern in the 10th minute, settled the team, and they ran out winners by 2-14 to 1-7. They now play Laois in the final on the weekend of May 6th/7th.
