Lidl Ladies NFL Round 1 Fixtures

This weekend will see the first round of fixtures take place in the 2016 Lidl Ladies National Football Leagues with a full round of 15 fixtures taking place right around the country.

21 January 2016; Lidl and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association have today announced a new partnership that will see the supermarket chain become the ‘Official Retail Partner to the Ladies Gaelic Football Association’ as well as becoming title sponsors of the Lidl National Football Leagues, the Lidl Post Primary Schools competition and the Lidl Gaelic4Mothers & Others programme. Lidl also announced a huge financial investment of €1.5million euro in Ladies Gaelic Football in year 1 of this 3 year agreement which includes a huge advertising, social and in-store branding campaign that will see Lidl mobilise their customers as part of their pledge to provide #SeriousSupport to ladies gaelic football. Further information is available at www.ladiesgaelic.ie and www.lidl.ie. In Lidl NFL Division 1 there will be a lot of interest in Cork’s first match in the post Eamonn Ryan era as their newly appointed manager, Ephie Fitzgerald, takes charge of the defending champions for the first time when they meet Mayo. Dublin are many people’s favourites to have a glory filled year but they will have a tough opening when they welcome Kerry to Parnell Park. Tyrone need a fast start to the season when they host Galway in their opener whilst Ronan Clarke and his newly promoted Armagh side will not have to travel far on their return to the top division as they face Monaghan.

Lidl NFL Division 2 looks like being extremely competitive this year as there is very little to separate the 8 counties. 2 of last year’s top 4 meet in what looks like the highlight of round 1 when Westmeath host Donegal whilst Cavan and Kildare should be an entertaining encounter. Waterford will want to make a statement in their first game in Lidl Ladies NFL Division 3 as the TG4 Intermediate All Ireland champions meet a Tipperary team who are expected to be amongst their biggest rivals for the title. Derry will hope to continue their development when they meet Louth in division 4 with Wicklow playing host to Antrim in the other fixture.
