Longford overcome Tipperary

Longford made home advantage count in their TESCO HomeGrown National Football League Division 3 meeting with Tipperary as they ran out three point winners in their Round 2 clash.

The most impressive feature of the game for Longford was that their 12 points came from 7 different scorers with Sarah Tierney and Michelle Farrell accounting for three points each.

Weather conditions proved to be difficult for both teams but the players worked tirelessly for the points. The most signifcant moment of the match came after 25 minutes when Longford’s right half back, Louise Monghan cleared the ball of her own goal line to maintain the Longford advantage.

Tipperary struggled to make inroads in to the Longford lead and were unable to overturn the deficit as the three point lead proved decisive.
