26 August 2004 Mayo and Galway attempt to do Connacht proud Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! Mayo and Galway attempt to do Connacht proud Both Mayo and Galway represent Connacht in the TG4 All Ireland Senior Quarter finals to be held next Saturday August 28th Mayo reigning All Ireland Champions take on Cork in O’Connor Park, Tullamore next Saturday at 1.30. This is a repeat of this 2003/2004 League Final. Cork dominated most of that game and was in control up till the break, Experience and patience in the second half saw Mayo lift the title. In a very tough TG4 campaign down south Cork had to fight hard to capture the Munster Title. Youth, teamwork and great football skills bring this young Cork team to the forefront having matured beyond their years the entire combination will cause great problems for Mayo. Mayo on the other hand have had a relatively poor season this year having lost twice to Galway and pushed to the limits by Roscommon. This poor start may have been the ingredient needed to push Mayo to the third TG4 All Ireland in a row. The only warning I can give to Cork is ” It’s the season for the wasps to be about and watch for the sting in the tail”. Laois and Galway take to the stage at the same time next Saturday but at Pearce Park, Longford. To date 2004 has been successful for Galway with the capture of the CBE cup over their old revivals Mayo in the TG4 Connacht Championship Final. A strong sprinkle of young players and more established solid heads leave Galway in a strong position to be contenders to go all the way. The Tribeswomen take on Laois knowing well that this is not a push over. Winners of the 2001 TG4 All Ireland senior final and 2003 Senior League winners Laois cannot be taken for granted. Very little has been highlighted about Laois this year but the work has been going on in the background, many experienced heads are behind this team, they have upset the odds on many occasion, Galway be warned. Both venues Tullamore and Longford will host two Quarterfinals apiece and support for your County is very important so it is vital that you get out and build an atmosphere ladies football is entitled too. Let make it our business to get a large travelling support to all games that as always produces football of the highest standards. Connacht PRO Ladies Football Kevin Curley Share this Article 0 0
