MEATH LADIES

Meath Ladies football is certainly looking good at the moment.
For the second month in a row Meath Ladies have picked up the
coveted Irish Independent/Lucozade Sport Player of the Month award.
This time it was talented forward and St. Ultans club woman Geraldine
Doherty. April saw Gillian Bennett pick up the prize.

On the under age scene Meath u/12s took both the A and B titles
in the Leinster Blitz held in Carlow on June bank holiday Monday.
The A team played 5 games to reach the final beating Laois 2-06
to 1-04, Dublin 3-04 to 0-04, Wexford 3-08 to 1-03, Kildare 3-02
to 2-05 and Laois again in the semi-final 2-1 to 1 -03. They eventually
played Kildare again in the Final and a goal by Sinead Coyle in
injury time proved vital as it proved to be the winning score.
The result was Meath 3-03 – Kildare 2-03.

The B team had much the same run as the As and they played 4
games to reach the final disposing of Wexford by 1-04 to 1-01,
Laois by 1-06 to no score, Kildare 4-03 to 0-01, the semi-final
was Meath 6-04 – Laois 1-00. The final saw the Meath girls pitted
against Wexford who they disposed of with ease 4-06 to 1-00.
