Meath Ladies U-14 Blitz

Leinster U-14 Blitz
Carlow Hurling Grounds
2nd August 2008

Meath u-14s added to their Leinster Final trophy at the weekend with a superb display of football at the Leinster u-14 blitz on Saturday.
As if reaching the All Ireland semi-final wasn’t enough for this team they ran riot at the u-14 blitz beating Kildare, Laois, and Dublin in the first three rounds. This qualified them for the final so in the fourth round against Wicklow they sat back and let the Garden County have a go. However, it was Wicklow they were to meet again in the final and this time there were no easy scores as Meath put their foot down and swamped Wicklow.
In the final, Meath came to an easy victory, final score Meath 6-04 to Wicklow 1-04. Jacinta Maher was in superb form with 3 goals, Laura Dempsey and Adrienne McCann 1-02 apiece and Rosanna Irwin with a goal.
Despite being beaten by Galway in the All Ireland Semi-Final it is to the girl’s credit that they now end the year on a high. Much thanks to their manager Eamon Murray and backroom team.
Unfortunately the U-14 B team didn’t follow their A counterparts with success, but victory is not far away from this team and better luck will follow next year.

Meath Team: A. Flynn, K. Jennings, C. Murray (Capt.), C. Dalton, K. Falahee, L. McCann, N. Lister, L. Bagnall, L. Patterson, R. Irwin, A. McCann, L. Dempsey, A. Bennett, J. Maher, S. Stanley, M. Peel.
