Miltown 2 – 13 Cooraclare 2 – 8

Cooraclare the title holders did all the early running and playing
with a strong breeze led at half time by seven points but the
star of the game must be Aoife Healy who scored eight points
for Miltown in the second half. Majella Lillis opened for Coolaclare
in the first minute and this was a minute later with a point
from Ann Marie Callinan to put Cooraclare two points ahead The
pressure was on Miltown A further point were added by Eithne
Morrissey in the fourth minute and then Cooraclare Aifri O’Neill
was given a yellow card and send off for ten minutes by referee
Michael Talty in the sixth minute.

Miltown started to apply pressure on Cooraclare and if it was
not for good work by the Cooraclare defence and midfield blocking
and chasing Miltown only managed one point from Suzanne Murphy
in the eight minute. From here on it was all Cooraclare and
they added points from Bernie Kelly in the ninth minute Ann
Marie Callinan in the twenty third Eithne Morrissey in the twenty
fourth Niamh Chambers in the twenty seventh and finally Bernie
Kelly on half time to leave the score Cooraclare 0 – 8 Miltown
0 – 1 In the second half Miltown had the strong breeze and took
full advantage and started straight from the throw in Aoife
Healy pointed from a free after one minute and this was followed
by a second point again from Aoife Healy after three minutes

A minute later Sandra Malone had the ball in the Cooraclare
net after good work by Diane Kelly and Niamh Coyne. Veronica
Hehir came from wing back to add her point after five minutes
Michelle McCaw put Miltown level with a point in the sixth minute
and Cooraclare looked in big trouble. Cooraclare launched an
attack and as a result Helen Quinn was fouled and up stepped
Niamh Chambers to blast the ball to the Miltown net to keep
Cooraclare in the game and leave the score Cooraclare 1 – 8
Miltown 1 – 5 after seven minutes Then it was all Aoife Healy
with five points in a row four from frees and one from play
the first of the five points came in the eight minute and the
last in the sixteen minute to leave Miltown ahead by 1 – 10
Cooraclare 1 – 8 Then came Niamh Chambers again you would blast
the ball to the net once but no Niamh send a second free to
the net in the seventeen minute and this was Cooraclare final
score of the game Miltown went on to add a point from play from
Denise Sexton in the twenty minute a minute later Niamh Coyne
added another point.

With six minutes left it fell to Miltown Fiona Lafferty to crash
the ball to the Cooraclare net and seal victory for Miltown.
Aoife Healy added a final point for Miltown on full time to
leave the score as stated.

Best for Miltown were Lorraine Griffin Veronica Hehir Deirdre
Killeen Sandra Malone Aoife Healy Fiona Lafferty.
