Monaghan Retain Minor Title

Monaghan 2-14 Cavan 1-09

Monaghan retained the Ulster Minor Championship
after overcoming neighbours Cavan in Scotstown. Cavan
were looking to add the minor title to the U14 & U16
titles already in the trophy cabinet but it wasnt to
be as Monaghan outplayed them and deservedly took the
title.

Monaghan led after the opening quarter by six points
to one but with a Emma Clarke goal on 25 minutes Cavan
levelled matters. Monaghan responded before the break
with an immediate response with Sinead McCooey finding
the net after good play from Slainey Murray, giving
them the advantage at the break by 1-07 to 1-04.

The second half opened with a point a
piece from Clarke and Murray before Murray all but ended
the tie with Monaghan’s second goal just five
minutes into the second half. As hard as Cavan tried
after that it was to be of no avail with the Monahan
defence outstanding and Cavan had to be satisfied with
second best and Monaghan march on.
