More silverware for Limerick as hosts claim inaugural U-14 Blitz title

THE inaugural Limerick LGFA (INGENIUM) Under 14 Blitz took place last Sunday, 7 October, in Staker Wallace GAA Grounds, Martinstown, as Limerick were crowned Champions for 2018.

As 160 girls from Limerick, Offaly, Laois and Roscommon descended on this quiet little part of rural Limerick, the four teams battled it out for silverware as Limerick overcame both Offaly and Laois to contest the A final with Roscommon.

Both sides played brilliant football, but Limerick were more clinical, working the ball from the backs through midfield to take some excellent scores. Congratulations to the Limerick Under 14 squad and mentors on winning the inaugural Ingenium Trophy to add to their Munster Title success. Offaly overcame Laois in the runner-up final. Our sincere thanks to Roscommon, Offaly and Laois for being wonderful guests.

During the awards speeches, Pat Madigan (Limerick LGFA Development Officer) outlined the importance of continuing consistent underage development throughout the year and how the INGENIUM TC Invitational blitz could grow legs and gain momentum and become an important part of the Under 14 calendar in the future. The 2019 Ingenium blitz will be hosted by Roscommon LGFA.

A huge thanks to all the Limerick girls, coaches and parents for their commitment and support throughout the season. Our sincere thanks also to Limerick County Board and to our sponsors and friends Ingenium TC who have been a fantastic supporter of Limerick LGFA.
