Munich Ladies European Round Report

After the Barcelona round held in June, on the 9th July the European ladies teams played the 3rd round of the European Championship in Munich. Hosted by the Munich ladies team, the round had the opportunity to see in action teams from Paris, Belgium, who fielded two ladies teams (Belgium A and Belgium B) and Holland ladies. Also, there were players who played for those teams coming from Toulouse and Barcelona.

In the Barcelona round Belgium GAA, the champions and Munich Colmcilles proved to be the two strongest teams of the tournament. However, in the Munich round Paris and Holland ladies wanted to test if the two teams who reached the final in the previous round were in fact the two strongest ones.

All the games played showed a great level of football. Paris, Holland and Belgium B, played fantastic games and gave their best in all the matches; but in the end, the final was played by the two teams who already reached the final in Barcelona: Belgium A and Munich Colmcilles. Munich Colmcilles made Belgium A to play at their best level, as it was their home tournament and wanted to obtain a good result. Despite all the fantastic energy Munich displayed on the pitch, Belgium A proved to be the strongest team once more and won the tournament. Comhghairdeas to Belgium GAA for a fantastic season !!

The referee for the round was Mael Duigou from Brittany.

Belgium A and B celebrate together the tournament victory.

As in Barcelona, on the Sunday after the tournament there was the training of the European squad who will attend the All-Ireland sevens in September. Please, note the commitment of the players of the squad as they book their flights back home later on the Sunday just to attend the training session. We would like to remember that all the European squad players live in different countries on mainland Europe. So, a big thank you to them for their commitment.

The Player of the Tournament went to Munich player, Susanne Schwalb, who played at excellent level all the games and helped her team by scoring great goals. Belgium leads the European Ladies Championship with three rounds. Round fourth will take place in Maastricht on August 13th.

Many thanks to all for a fantastic tournament !!!
